Getting reimbursed if you buy fuel elsewhere

Fill out one of our fuel reimbursement forms which you can get at the school by asking one of our employees.

What fuel load to expect and how to change it

Full tanks are to be expected. If not and you need more fuel call Jet Air 877-442-6427

Securing aircraft

There are tow bars for each airplane in the baggage compartment which you can use to direct the plane back into its parking spot. When you’re done and no one is using it after you, tie it down and put the cover on the plane if it has one.

Local Airspace Considerations

Best Way to Get Flight Following

Once you get approved to change over frequencies when departing KSEE or outside of “D” airspace contact SoCal approach 124.35

Local reporting points

East Approach: Lake Jennings, Alpine, Loveland Reservoir, Crest, Lakeside Golf Course South Approach: Cottonwood Golf Course, Sweetwater Reservoir, MT. Helix West Approach: San Diego State, Fortuna Mountain, Montgomery, Lake Murray, Cowles Mountain North Approach: Quarry

Typical TFR considerations

Disney Land in Los Angeles

Local Airfield Operations

Traffic pattern altitude

27R 1,600 ft. (MSL) Right Traffic in the day. 1,400 ft. and Left traffic at night

27L 1,200 ft. (MSL) Left Traffic

17-35 1,200 (MSL) in the day. 1,400 ft. (MSL) at night

Noise abatement procedures

We have a noise abatement for homes on left downwind for 27L and 27R. Climb to at least 1000ft. MSL before starting crosswind if you’re doing left traffic for 27L or 27R and once at TPA “1,200 ft.” reduce RPMs for quieter flying. RWY 17 preferred noise abatement when tower is closed

Local Flight Planning Tips

Noise sensitive areas

We have a noise abatement area for homes on left downwind for 27L and 27R. Climb to at least 1000ft. MSL before starting crosswind if you’re doing left traffic for 27L or 27R and once at TPA “1,200 ft.” reduce RPMs for quieter flying.

How to easily identify boundaries of overlying or nearby airspace

East departures: Once over Lake Jennings you are clear of the “B” airspace West Departures: Fortuna Mountain is indication you’re leaving KSEE “D” and the highway right north of you is bordering the “B” airspace. North Departures: The edge of Santee and the congested area is the beginning of the “B” shelf

Local terrain considerations

1,600 is TPA for 27R for right traffic due to the mountain in the traffic pattern.

Unique weather challenges / microclimates

We have a marine layer that forms a lot during the early mornings

Best airports to visit in the area

Big Bear for beautiful country and scenery. Catalina for some island adventures

Best sights to see nearby from the air

The San Diego Bay
