Very nicely maintained Skyhawk with clean interiors and updated upholstery. The aircraft handled nicely and flew within the performance parameters I'd expected. I took it all the way to 11.5K for a closer tour of Mt Hood and it was a lot of fun. Dave and their staff definitely maintain their aircrafts superbly.
Have flown it twice now and the experience has been great. Newer upholstery, nice handling and good engine performance all add up to make our flights a fun ride especially taking first time passengers. We took it all the way to 12500fts to view Mt Hood and it performed beautifully.
Immaculately maintained Cessna 172. Exterior and interior looked fantastic. Plane handled and performed beautifully. Had myself and two passengers. The GPS is a bit older than what I'm used to, as it doesn't have a moving map display. Not a big deal for me as I use foreflight. All three of us really enjoyed our flight!
First tried to fly the RA 172, but we had problems with a stuck mic. The crew at Willamette has extremely helpful in troubleshooting the problem. We decided not to go, but the problem was fixed later. Later that day I called again, since we had an opportunity to go again and Willamette was able to set everything up literally at the last minute. The flight was amazing and the plane (20488) is superb! Even my passengers said it's one of the best 172's they've flown in when it comes to the interior upkeep. We returned after hours and leaving with the office closed was a breeze. Dave, the owner, took the time to personally meet with us, which was a very nice touch! I will be back again!
Two times in a row I had a problem with the audio. This time it was with the front passenger's headset connection. Tried multiple headsets, but nothing worked. We used the back seat plugs. Before it was a stuck mike. Not a big deal, but two times in a row was a bit annoying. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this flight school. N20488 is a great airplane! The staff is absolutely incredible and very helpful. Both of my flights with them included chatting with the flight instructors before I went to make it a better experience. We discussed what's the best and safest way to conduct my flights. This time around I went to see Mt. Hood up close and personal from 11,000 ft. It was amazing. I was flight following with Portland Approach the entire time and the crew was extremely helpful. I started out with 118.10 and then got switched to 124.25 (I think; can't quite remember the second one). If you have the opportunity to fly out of Aurora State airport with this flying club, do it. You won't regret it!!!
Not the best plane, but okay
While I did the checkout in my own plane,I can tell you that Willamette Aviation has well maintained planes. My instructor, Dick Oman was awesome on my flight review and UPC. I took away a lot from that review and as much as I remain instrument proficient and found some rust to knock off. Jeanne was great getting me through the processing of making all this happen. So five stars for them.
